The Emei Women's Football Team gives the film a clear group to root for, while the mix of impossible moves, physical comedy and competitive pressure keeps the concept playful. Its biggest appeal is how confidently it treats football as a stage for kung fu rather than trying to behave like a conventional sports movie.

• The Mandalorian and Grogu

  The Mandalorian and Grogu works best as a big-screen continuation of the relationship that made The Mandalorian such a success in the first place. Rather than trying to reinvent Star Wars, the film keeps its focus on Din Djarin and Grogu, placing their bond inside a larger New Republic mission. The result feels deliberately familiar: a straightforward space adventure built around action, humor and the quiet loyalty between its two leads.

• Spider-Man: Brand New Day

  Spider-Man: Brand New Day gives Peter Parker one of the clearest fresh starts of his story so far. After losing the life and relationships that once defined him, Peter is now trying to exist almost entirely as Spider-Man. That makes the central conflict more personal than simply facing another powerful enemy: the real question is how much of Peter Parker can survive when the mask becomes his entire life. The setup feels like a deliberate reset for Tom Holland's Spider-Man, with the potential to bring responsibility, loneliness and sacrifice back to the center of the character.
