The social media age lends itself well to the horror-thriller genre, but most films turn out to be a shallow, cautionary tale about the toxicity that comes from our narcissistic desire for more fan engagement and obsession with accruing “likes.” That’s not the case with “Influencer,” a creative and fresh take on movies set in the TikTok and Instagram era. Great movie and it was unique too. Loved it.

Fun idea, but a bit flat The idea behind the plot isn't bad, and the main character is engaging, but she is mired by some of the other decisions made. The male lead is not really engaging, and some of the writing is somewhat lack-luster. It isn't a bad movie, and it looks gorgeous, but I think it could have been a bit more tightened when it came to its tension, so that the horror-moments could be allowed to shine.

*Influencer* delivers an engaging psychological thriller about digital identity theft through a well-structured mystery, convincing performances, and clever twists that reward attentive viewers. Although CW's psychological motives and some characters' decisions could have been explored more deeply, the film effectively builds suspense while raising timely questions about trust and online identity. Overall, it is a worthwhile watch for those who enjoy modern thrillers with social commentary and unexpected turns. BY ALUNAUWIE
