**_A runaway converges with perverse cultists in western PA_** A 17 year-old girl from Pennsylvania runs away to live with her sister in another state. She’s picked up by two guys in a van, but they run afoul of a weirdo cult in the sticks. Shot in 1980 but not released until 1982, “Midnight” was written & directed by the screenwriter of the hallowed “Night of the Living Dead” (1968) and likewise shot in western Pennsylvania. Costing only $75,000, it had half the budget of “Night” and way less if you factor in 13 years of inflation. As such, this is basically a meshing of “Night” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (1974), just no where near as effective due to the limited resources. For instance, there’s a lot of wooden acting. Still, if you don’t mind micro-budget deficiencies
