Recently had the chance to watch Tesoros and join a conversation with its director, Flavia Furtado. I had already heard that the film had been screened in several countries — including a full month in New York, and theatrical runs in New Zealand and France — and after experiencing it, I can confidently say it's one of the most important films I’ve seen coming out of Chile and Latin America in recent years. Tesoros is a documentary rooted in themes of circular economy and recycling, but what makes it truly stand out is how these ideas are not only told but embodied by the film itself — created using recycled materials and experimental visual techniques. The aesthetic is truly unique, blending new media approaches such as video mapping and animation with rich cinematographic composition.
