We follow up and coming foley artist Vic (Amanda Winston) and her sound engineer Coop (Jason Mackniskas), as they're hired to create sound effects for an unfinished horror film by the mysterious filmmaker Milo Kemp (Bill D. Russell). However, the film triggers forces far exceeding what's on screen. Initially Vic Effects is styled as a documentary, following Vic in her day-to-day job and how she creates effective sound design. The narrative then flips 180 degrees as she's thrown into a living nightmare. I loved this switch in style and is so effective in building character backstory. It becomes clear the props loaned to Vic to finish the new film aren't all they seem. We also learn Vic's experiencing issues in her personal life, and when the two worlds collide it ends in disaster.
