Who can’t associate with being on a packed bus and feeling that everyone else is just being a pain in the neck, or noisy, or rude or even attractive? Well that’s Tuppence Middleton’s experience as she stands on a busy London bus travelling home. She can imagine the lengths people will go to get a seat, be left in peace - or even just to get on and off the thing. She makes eye contact with another passenger, he reciprocates, but is it just that look of a kindred spirit sharing her thoughts or do their gentle smiles at each other represent anything more potential?
