The story tells the journey of a young man and a dog. It evokes the time which passes, our incapacity or our lack of will to look at the little gifts of every day.

I can't say that I entirely understood the message that Simone Massi is trying to convey here, nor am I familiar with the poem upon which this is based. Perhaps that we never take enough time to appreciate the simple pleasures of what is going around us? In any case, though, I really enjoyed the bleak and scratchy animated style of the storytelling as a man, clad in black save for the flash of his red scarf, peels an orange (one of the few other sources of colour here) and then with his somewhat menacing looking dog goes for a walk. Stefano Sasso's eerily constructed score and the leisurely, almost lethargic, pace of the film struck home too, imbuing this short feature with a slightly intangible poignancy. This is quite a stylish piece of cinema and is well worth ten minutes.
