Hassiba Boulmerka

Hassiba Boulmerka (Arabic: حسيبة بولمرقة), born on July 10, 1968, in Constantine, is an Algerian athlete specializing in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter middle-distance events; her career spanned from 1986 to 1997. Born in Constantine, in northeastern Algeria, Boulmerka began running seriously at the age of ten, specializing in the 800m and 1,500m events.
